BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Banana Stand store in Burlington has reopened after two back-to-back break-ins forced it to close.
In late November, two people were caught on camera ransacking the store, breaking windows and stealing $10,000 worth of merchandise.
The store reopened Saturday after being closed for a month and a half.
Neighbors and fans of the store raised thousands of dollars to help get the owners back on their feet.
The lifestyle apparel and shoe store owners are happy to be open again and are grateful for the community support.
“We’ve had so many stores in our area reach out to us and keep an eye out for us, as well. And it just shows us that we’re all in the same boat. There’s a lot of things going on in our town and in Vermont in general, and just hearing from everyone, you know, and getting their words of support and encouragement, you know, shows that we’re not alone and also just shows that we have an amazing group of neighbors,” said Sarah Steward of Banana Stand.
The store on Burlington’s Main Street is closed on Tuesdays.
