
ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – Gov. Kathy Hochul wants New York to be a leader in artificial intelligence.
The governor unveiled the Empire AI consortium as part of her preview of her State of the State address.
Hochul is proposing $400 million in public and private money to create the program. The effort includes an artificial intelligence computing center in upstate New York, potentially at the University of Buffalo.
Part of the proposal also aims to set policies to ensure state agencies use AI responsibly.
