BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – People in our region are still cleaning up from the storm earlier this week, and some are still without power.

Green Mountain Power is issuing another warning to brace for impact as more weird weather comes our way. They recommend keeping your phone charged and supplies like a flashlight, batteries, and non-perishables handy. If you see a down line GMP says to assume it is energized stay away from it and call them.

In New York, Governor Kathy Hochul issued similar advice to her constituents, detailing heavy wind, cold temperatures, and a lot of snow. “If you have an elderly or medically vulnerable neighbor, friend, bring them in your house this weekend. We don’t want you to have to wait until it’s too late. If you’re planning to buy groceries or get your chicken wings, buy them on Friday,” said Hochul.

Hochul says she activated 100 members of the National Guard with 11,000 utility crews on standby to deal with power outages.
