BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The NFL Wildcard game originally scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed to Monday, January 15, at 4:30 p.m. here on WCAX Channel 3.
Concerns around a winter storm warning in Buffalo grew Friday, and by Saturday, winter storm warnings were in effect for Buffalo and western New York state until 7:00 a.m. Monday, January 15. The winter storm warning was termed an “ongoing weather emergency” in a social media post from the Buffalo Bills team account on X, formerly Twitter, which went on to say that the choice to reschedule the game “was made in consultation with New York Governor Kathy Hochul.”
CBS Sports reports that the last NFL playoff game to move was another contest involving the Steelers, in 2016, when the Steelers vs. Chiefs game in Kansas City was moved from a 1:05 p.m. ET kickoff to an 8:20 p.m. ET start because of an ice storm in the area.
On Monday, WCAX will air the NFL Today at 3:30 p.m. followed by the Steelers vs. Bills at 4:30 p.m.
In place of the game’s original time on Sunday, WCAX will air a live edition of the NFL Today from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., followed by a re-air of last year’s NFL Championship game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
