BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Utility crews are making headway on mass power outages across Vermont.
Back-to-back storms this week knocked down countless trees, taking power lines down with them and leaving thousands in the dark. Many were still without power from Tuesday’s storm when Friday’s wet snow and wind hit.
Green Mountain Power doubled their field force in anticipation of the first storm, pulling in out-of-state crews to help. They tripled up to handle the aftermath of Friday’s storm.
“They did amazing work, restoring power to virtually all customers the same day those big damaging winds came through,” GMP’s Kristin Kelly said.
As of Sunday night, about 400 Vermonters are still without power, 69 of them GMP’s. Kelly says they’re constantly fielding calls from customers to ensure everyone gets power back as soon as possible.
