BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Pond skating for people in Burlington started a little late this year.
People skating at Arthur Park, also known as the Sea Caves, say this was the first real week of ice skating on the pond.
Skater Hanna Coughlin says she’s been skating on the pond since she was a little girl. She also says this winter hasn’t been so skate friendly, and she’s going to take advantage of the pond as much as she can for the rest of the season.
“This is my first time back out this winter. I have gone many, many times before. I am super excited that it’s frozen now so we can come enjoy it. I have been waiting so long, it’s so exciting. I always look forward to it, pond ice is always the best,” said Coughlin.
While pond skating is a lot of fun, you shouldn’t go out on the ice alone, and it’s recommended that you wear a life jacket and bring ice picks incase you fall through.
