BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s Republican governor has some advice for primary voters in New Hampshire: vote against Donald Trump.
New Hampshire holds the first-in-the-nation primary next Tuesday. Former president Trump leads the polls and is the front-runner for the nomination.
But in a statement, Gov. Phil Scott, R-Vermont, said: “After years of controversy, violent rhetoric and growing polarization, the very last thing we need is four more years of Donald Trump.”
Scott said the nation’s “future is in jeopardy.” He said, “Americans deserve candidates with character and integrity, who respect the rule of law, the rights of all people, and the Constitution.”
He urged Republicans and independents in New Hampshire to vote for Nikki Haley in the GOP primary.
