
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A police standoff in Burlington Monday afternoon prompted authorities to lock down local schools.
The Burlington Police as of 3 p.m. said they were involved in negotiations with a person barricaded near Elmwood Avenue and North Street.
They say schools were placed on lockdown but that students are now being released.
People are advised to avoid the area.
There were no immediate details on what prompted the standoff.
