PLAINFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – A landslide in Plainfield is becoming more dangerous– that’s according to the Vermont Agency of Transportation which held a meeting on Thursday to discuss plans to fix the erosion near Route 2.
Rocks, trees and dirt continue to fall down a steep hill that leads to the Winooski River.
Transportation officials say they have known about the landslide for a long time and that flooding from July and December worsened the riverbank’s erosion.
Because of the landslide, the park around it is now closed to the public.
The agency says experts are working on a permanent fix and a possible temporary fix if the slide gets worse.
