NORTH HAVERHILL, N.H. (WCAX) – Community members gathered in North Haverhill, New Hampshire, last week to mark the 20th anniversary of the disappearance of Maura Murray.
The 21-year-old UMass student disappeared after crashing her car in the woods on February 9, 2004. After two decades, there’s still no trace of where she might be, but her family has never given up searching.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d be standing here talking about Maura still being missing 20 years later,” said Julie Murray, Maura’s sister
“Whatever it takes to find Maura, bring her home, do the right thing by her. She can’t speak for herself, so I feel I have to speak for her,” said Fred Murray, Maura’s dad.
Investigators say she crashed her car on a sharp bend. A neighbor called 911 but when police arrived, she was no longer at the scene of the crash.
