WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Six Vermont state troopers have been placed on paid leave while they’re investigated for misconduct during an incident in December, according to the Caledonian Record.

State troopers David Garces, Colin Connery, Elisabeth Plympton, Luke Rodzel, Gabriel Schrauf, and David Wicks were relieved of duty after they were reportedly trying to track a suspect involved in a possible domestic abuse case that started in Vermont but later led to Haverhill, New Hampshire.

The internal investigation hinges on the department’s policies on car pursuits and the use of spike strips to deflate tires of unresponsive drivers, according to the newspaper.

A Vermont State Police spokesman says they are ensuring full police at the St. Johnsbury Barracks by having troopers from surrounding barracks cover for the troopers on leave and also overtime.
