BEEKMANTOWN, N.Y. (WCAX) – One of the dozens of dogs seized by authorities this week from a Beekmantown, New York, rescue organization has died, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

Forty-nine animals were seized Monday from the dog rescue organization “A Canine Gem.” Police say most were underfed, some severely. They say one with congestive heart failure and heartworm had to be euthanized.

The owner of the organization is facing dozens of charges for mistreatment of the dogs.
