HIGHGATE, Vt. (WCAX) – Highgate residents voted Tuesday to transfer land for a proposed $10 million downtown senior development.
The vote was from the floor and gave the approval to sell land to developer Cathedral Square for $100,000.
The town purchased a piece of land in 2017 to turn it into a community space. They have now partnered with developer Cathedral Square to build senior housing there. Officials say the partnership could benefit all Highgate residents in the future.
Residents also approved spending $200,000 for what will be a $4 million wastewater system to support the housing project.
