BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The eclipse is expected to bring millions of dollars into the state but it could also win a lucky someone some spending cash.

The Vermont Lottery has released eclipse-themed scratch-off tickets. The $5 ticket can win prizes from $5 to several grand prizes of $10,000.

The lottery’s Andrew Collier says they wanted to offer a unique scratch-off opportunity for people to cash in during the once-in-a-lifetime event. “This is the theme of what’s going on here on April 8th — you can win up to $10,000 — and it plays off all the excitement that we have here in the state,” he said

The state ordered 270,000 tickets and has sold about 20% so far. Profits go into the Education Fund.
