MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A former employee of an Essex Junction assisted living facility faces charges of stealing valuables from at least one disabled resident.

The Vermont Attorney General’s Office Friday said Lilac Rain Brown-Fisher, 28, worked as the activities director at Maple Ridge Memory Care. They say the Essex and South Burlington Police Departments kicked off an investigation after reports from a family member of a resident noticed that an heirloom ring had disappeared. The ring was later recovered, but the investigation revealed more instances of Ms. Brown-Fisher stealing jewelry from other residents.

Authorities say Brown-Fisher pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Thursday to charges including grand larceny and financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

They say further charges are anticipated from the AG’s Medicaid Fraud and Residential Abuse Unit.
