DERBY, Vt. (WCAX) – A Newport man has been charged with arson related to a string of fires at remote camps in the Northeast Kingdom.

The Vermont State Police say a lengthy investigation of the fires between August 2019 and May 2022 led them to James Teixeira, 39.

They say he intentionally lit the fires at two seasonal camps in Avery’s Gore and one in Coventry.

He’s due in Orleans County Court on May 25 to face three counts of arson.
