CHITTENDEN COUNTY, Vt. (WCAX) – Whether it’s in South Burlington or Essex Junction, families were ready to hunt some eggs as Easter approaches.

“Holidays are always fun, you know, and just having events like this, we volunteered to come here and help out and I just feel like families recognize that,” Essex resident Maddy Rivers said.

The Easter egg hunt in Essex Junction started at ten in the morning on Saturday, but people were lining up before it even started.

“It’s nice that it’s outside so like so many people come for any age because there’s little babies here doing it and then there’s the older kids,” Essex resident Annie Danis said.

Laughing, smiling and enjoying the nice weather, Rivers and Danis say it’s fun way to see the community come together.

“We’re all just like a family pretty much here so it’s fun for everybody to come and see each other during the holidays,” Rivers said.

“There’s so many people having so much fun and like all the happy faces that come up to us it’s just so sweet,” Danis said.

“It’s nice to get out, you know, it’s a beautiful Saturday afternoon you know the sun is out and it’s nice to see the community around,” Williston resident Ryan Hickey said.

For some families it’s a yearly tradition to go on an Easter egg hunt, but for others its their first time.

“It’s been nice seeing all the other kids and enjoying them out and about and finally having some nice weather and then seeing her being able to walk around, it’s exciting for us as new parents,” Willison resident Katarina Hickey said.

At Maple Street Park in Essex Junction, egg hunters received a goodie bag and could collect up to ten eggs.

At City Hall in South Burlington, families enjoyed arts and crafts and face painting during their egg hunt from one to three in the afternoon.
