JERICHO, Vt. (WCAX) – The Mount Mansfield Union High School theater department had a special guest performance for their spring production.

Governor Phil Scott played the “dental patient” role in their “Little Shop of Horrors” performance earlier tonight.

The kids in the theater department scored this casting by sending the governor a series of videos asking him to make a small cameo—promising he wouldn’t even have to say any lines.

In a press conference, he reluctantly agreed, saying, “They were well done, very enthusiastic, and again, hard to say no. Not something I’m actually looking forward to though.”

But it was clear tonight that he was more excited for the stage than he let on. He even improved some lines once he got there.

This was Governor Scott’s first ever musical performance—a far cry from his Thunder Road days.
