CASTLETON, Vt. (WCAX) – Six months after the fatal shooting of a former Castleton University dean on a local bike path, Vermont State Police Friday said the investigation into her murder remains a priority.
Seventy-seven-year-old Honoree Fleming was shot and killed October 5th while walking on the rail trail near Vermont State University Castleton. She was a former dean at the school.
Police received dozens of tips after releasing a composite sketch of a man in his 20s with red hair seen near the scene, but so far have not identified any suspects. Police Friday said they are aware of a privately funded reward but that they have not received any tips that can be specifically tied to the availability of that money.
“We want to reassure the public that this case remains a priority, and the state police has devoted and continues to devote significant resources to the investigation,” VSP Capt. Jeremy Hill said in a statement. “Our thoughts remain with Honoree’s family, friends, loved ones and community.”
