ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – New Yorkers are getting ready for their time in the path of totality during the total solar eclipse on Monday.

The state has been preparing for weeks, and Gov. Kathy Hochul says New York expects more than a million people to watch the eclipse in some of the best places the Empire State has to offer.

“We’ll have incredible visibility here. This total eclipse will pass through some of the most beautiful backdrops our state has to offer from state parks the gorgeous Adirondack mountains, the shores of Lake Erie Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, and of course breathtaking Niagara Falls,” said Hochul, D-New York.

The governor says that like other places in our region, traffic will be challenging and she encourages visitors to stay a while at their viewing location to avoid busy roads.
