LITTLETON, N.H. (WCAX) – There’s a new place in northern New Hampshire to get free naloxone.

The drug, also known as Narcan, can be used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

The new vending machine is located in front of the Mount Eustis Commons building in Littleton.

The former hospital is now home to the North Country Health Consortium which applied for the vending machine through the UVM Center on Rural Addiction.

NCHC officials say it’s a high-profile location and anyone is welcome to take advantage of it.

“It’s right off the highway, a lot of people coming to Littleton for shopping, for the Walmart and things like that, and we just thought it was a good central location. People can access it 24/7,” said Annette Carbonneau of the North Country Health Consortium.

Purple flags in front of the building represent the 356 opioid-related overdose deaths in New Hampshire last year.

The North Country Health Consortium has resources online for anyone struggling with addiction.
