RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – The city of Rutland Thursday wraps up a series of community conversations aimed at improving police-community relations.
The five meetings have been split into five different parts of the city, saving the downtown area for last. Police will be introducing officers and supervisors who patrol the area, talking about current crime trends, and answering public safety questions. Officials say the previous meetings have been productive, providing them with important feedback.
“Transparency for people isn’t just one-way sometimes. It’s being able to ask questions and get their answers, and there’s been plenty of that. Every one of these meetings, there’s been a lot of great questions from citizens and our officers have done great job responding,” said Rutland Mayor Mike Doenges.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Hub CoWorks space on Merchants Row.
