WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Williston Fire Department says a critical move by a homeowner may have saved their home during a fire. Fire crews responded to this home off Porterwood Drive on Friday night around 9 p.m. to a fire in the front bedroom. When they got there, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread beyond the bedroom. One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Williston Fire Department says the homeowner closed the bedroom door before leaving the house, which they say was critical in slowing the spread. The fire is being considered accidental.
