BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Burlington business and community leaders Tuesday launched an effort to strengthen and celebrate life through positive action.

The new initiative called Small Acts of Community encourages people to take a pledge to do 10 small acts for their neighborhood or city. This could include holding the door or someone, picking up trash, or starting a conversation with a neighbor. The goal is for many small acts to make for a better more positive community.

“Burlington is a strong and vibrant, vibrant community, people who take pride and love where we live, where we work, and where we play. We need to encourage each other to lean into that love, practice kindness, along with the other important work we’re doing together. We can have an impact,” said Kelly Devine with the Burlington Business Association.

About 300 community members signed the pledge before the event, with many more joining in throughout the day.
