BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – According to the Vermont Health Department, tick-borne illnesses are on the rise. Officials are reminding people to take precautions.
Ticks can be found all across Vermont and can carry illnesses like Lyme Disease.
Populations peak in the spring and fall, but the bugs can be found any time the temperatures are above freezing.
Precautions include wearing bug spray and long clothes, checking for ticks, showering after returning inside, and putting clothes in the dryer for 10 minutes to kill any ticks carried inside.
