WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCAX) – Lawmakers in the nation’s capitol push for federal support to keep Lake Champlain afloat.
Vermont senators Peter Welch and Bernie Sanders, alongside New York senator Kirsten Gillibrand, are asking Congress for federal funding to support the Lake Champlain Basin.
In a letter to fellow lawmakers, they emphasized the importance of federal cash in supporting the natural resource, from making the watershed climate resilient to protecting outdoor recreation and wildlife conservation.
Federal funding would benefit the Lake Champlain Basin program and the Lake Champlain Sea Lamprey Control Program, among others.
