WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCAX) – After a cyber-attack impacted thousands of people in our region, New Hampshire Representative Annie Kuster is calling for support from Washington.

In February, Change Healthcare’s system was the target of a cyber attack that disrupted service for patients and exposed their data to bad actors.

According to Kuster, the Change Healthcare attack impacted every hospital in New Hampshire. However, they don’t know how many patients’ data was compromised.

At a hearing in Washington, Kuster called for support to those impacted and to find ways to keep it from happening again.

“I’m deeply concerned about the amount of patient data that has reportedly been compromised. Congress must act to support consumers and patients impacted by this breach while we continue working to prevent these kinds of attacks in the future,” said Kuster.

According to Kuster, millions of Americans are affected by cyber-attacks on the healthcare system in the US. She said in last January and February alone, 74 million Americans had their data leaked on the dark web.
