BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Lots of record stores Saturday were packed for Record Store Day.

The annual event started back in the late 2000s to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store.

It’s typically held on the third Saturday in April and every Black Friday in November.

The day brings fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores together.

A number of records are put out just for this day.

At Burlington records, the owner says this Saturday was the busiest it’s been.

“In 10 minutes, make as much as you do for an entire day on Saturday and that’s saying something because we are a very busy shop to begin with. So, lots and lots of sales lots of happy people, it’s all excellent,” Ian Doerner of Burlington Records said.

Despite the long lines, the owner says he is happy to see people enjoy record store day.
