BARRE CITY, Vt. (WCAX) – More housing is coming to Barre City now that the city council has approved plans to sell two small parking lots to a developer who wants to build as many as 40 apartments there.

DEW Construction of Williston will work with Downstreet Housing & Community Development at the lots off Seminary Street and Campbell Place.

Downstreet uses low-income housing tax credits and other programs to help build affordable housing in central Vermont. The plan will help ease some of Barre City’s housing crunch worsened by damage to nearly 400 households after the July floods.
