ESSEX JCT., Vt. (WCAX) – Sci-fi and fantasy fans are dusting off their best costumes for Vermont’s 5th Annual Sci-Fi & Fantasy Expo this weekend.
Haylee Patch of Jeffersonville is preparing for her first table at Vermont’s Sci-Fi & Fantasy Expo. She’s selling swords and other medieval items at her booth, Legendary Loot.
“I am super excited for this first show. It’s been a lot of setup but pretty excited,” Patch said.
The family-friendly event includes everything from whimsical workshops to ghostbusting demos and role-playing games. Jeff Folb, the organizer, says there are over 100 participants and that they expect over 5,000 visitors. “This one’s a lot of fun. It’s everything from science fiction, fantasy, pop culture, cosplay, anime — a little bit of everything — and it really focuses on a lot of Vermont’s artists and authors, crafters, creators,” he said. “Whether it’s kids or teens or adults in costume or meeting a comic book artist or author that they love seeing something and never seen live before — you know, only seen on TV and movies — so that level of fun and excitement that only makes the weekend worth it.”
