DANNEMORA, N.Y. (WCAX) – Three corrections officers were hospitalized after an alleged attack by an inmate at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Northern New York.
Officials did not name the suspect in the attack at the Dannemora prison on April 19 but said a convicted murderer used a “plastic ice pick type weapon” to stab a corrections officer. That led to multiple other officers getting involved. One was put into a chokehold and another was injured while trying to detain the suspect.
The three injured corrections officers were treated at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.
The man accused in the attack is already serving a life sentence for shooting a man multiple times at a bus stop in Rochester in 2002.
