ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont man faces multiple charges after an incident in St. Albans on Tuesday that police say involved an arson fire, threats and assaults.
At about 2 p.m., Franklin County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on South Main Street for a report that Eric Honsinger was threatening a woman. When deputies got there, they found the building on fire and Honsinger gone.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
Deputies caught up with Honsinger a short time later at a quick stop. They say he was combative, spitting and kicking in the police cruiser.
Investigators believe Honsinger set the fire and threatened multiple people with a knife, a Taser and pepper spray.
He’s due in court Wednesday afternoon to face charges including arson, assault and reckless endangerment. Authorities say more charges are likely.
