RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A Rutland Town veteran is being recognized this weekend with an honor flight and motorcycle escort.
Adrian Megrath served in the Army during the Vietnam War. A group of motorcyclists and veterans rode down from Plattsburgh to Rutland Friday morning to escort him back to Plattsburgh for his flight to Washington.
Megrath says he’s looking forward to sharing the experience with his daughter who will be his chaperone on the honor flight. “I’ve been down before on my motorcycle for Rolling Thunder on Memorial Day weekend, but my daughter is going to go with me, and she’s never been there. But one of the things I’m looking at is I’m finally getting some recognition from somebody, because the reception we got when we came home was not very pleasant,” he said.
Megrath says he’s not sure what is planned for veterans this weekend but says there will be about 15 of them flying to the capital.
