New York discovers another rabies case, urges residents to be wary

PORT HENRY, N.Y. (WCAX) – A north country county is battling yet another rabies case.

Essex County announced that a raccoon found dead in a Moriah golf course has tested positive for the virus.

The animal was found on May 17th and the positive results came back on Tuesday, making this the fifth animal to test positive in the county this year.

Experts from the county Department of Health are urging anyone who could have come into contact with the raccoon to reach out in case of possible exposure.
