LANCASTER, N.H. (WCAX) – A northern New Hampshire store is picking up the pieces after an unwanted repeat customer.
Police responded to the Big Apple Store in Lancaster around 10 p.m. on Thursday for a man allegedly throwing bottles, ripping down signs, and pushing the cash register.
35-year-old Richard Ruddy of Lancaster was arrested after throwing a carton of cigarettes at an officer.
He was charged with felony criminal mischief and was released on condition not to return to the Big Apple Store.
But after Ruddy was released, police say he returned to the scene of the crime and drove into the store.
“Unfortunately it’s the holiday weekend and this store is going to be closed for quite a few days,” said Chief Jonathan Woodworth of the N.H. Police Department.
Ruddy was arrested for the second time and a judge ordered that he be held under preventative detention.
