
MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Montpelier is getting a new fire chief.
Derek Libby, who is currently a deputy fire chief for Burlington, will assume his new role as Montpelier’s fire chief in August.
Libby replaces Chief Robert Gowans, who is ending his 45-year career in the Capital City.
Libby has worked for the Burlington Fire Department since 1999 and has also been a member of Vermont search and rescue teams, as well as a police officer in the state.
