RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – One of Rutland’s local cemeteries is getting a cleanup.
Vermont cemetery officials say the Rutland community is coming together to work on the Clarendon Jewish Cemetery this weekend on their annual cemetery work day.
The site is right next to the East Claremont Cemetery.
Some of the volunteers will include members of the Rutland Jewish Center, the local Knights of Columbus Council, and others. They will be cleaning and restoring graves this coming Sunday.
“What’s the expression, ‘death makes us all equal’ kind of thing, I think it’s just nice to show, especially in the climate we have in the world, here’s a group that’s coming in to help out and do the right thing and work in a cemetery, and have a good day and make sure the cemetery looks nice when we leave it and the end of the day.”
Clean-up begins at 8:00 a.m. Sunday and ends at noon.
