MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A plan for a community theater, education center and cafe in an old fine arts library is making headway in Montpelier. The Gary Library in Montpelier is moving out, and making way for what executive director Kianna Bromley is calling “The Montpelier Performing Arts Hub”.

The hub’s design includes classrooms, a cafe, bar, and a black box theater. Bromley is planning to start renovations in spring of 2025.

“Coming out of COVID, coming out of the flood, we are all desperate for social interactions, but we need a space where we can go explore interests together and build relationships slowly so that we can really build back.” she said

Foundations, trusts and grassroots fundraising has carried the plan for the hub to this point, but Bromley says she still has to raise half a million dollars in the next two weeks to meet her goal.
