
ST JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Police have arrested who they say is the fifth and final suspect connected to a 2022 fatal shooting in St. Johnsbury.
The Vermont State Police say Danny Daniels, 32, of Philadelphia, was arrested Monday afternoon in New Orleans by state and federal authorities following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase. He’s one of five people police say were involved in the December killing of Israel Jimenez Lugo, 49, at his Hastings Hill Road apartment in St. Johnsbury in December 2022.
According to police, it was part of a scheme to steal drugs from Jimenez Lugo, 49, who was selling them from an apartment. Police say others involved in the scheme included Michael Ringuette, 55; Rafael Rodriguez, 34; and Brittany Clark, 33, all of St. Johnsbury; as well as Natasha Cady, 29, of Barton.
Daniels faces charges of aiding in the commission of first-degree murder, aiding in the commission of assault and robbery with a weapon, and aiding in the commission of burglary. He also faces federal drug-related charges.
Details of his extradition are pending.
