PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Missing paperwork in the race for Plattsburgh’s mayor means one candidate will not be on the November ballot.
Independent mayoral candidate Iris Cain did not file a document required under New York election law for independents, according to the Clinton County Board of Elections, and will not be allowed on the ballot.
Cain on social media called the board’s decision biased. “We asked on several occasions what else would be required to be submitted and were told just our petition forms,” he said.
Cain says he intends to stay in the race as a write-in candidate.
