MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermonters who drive electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids will have to pay an annual registration fee starting next year.

The governor signed a major transportation bill into law this week that includes provisions for EV owners to pay $89 per year and drivers of plug-in hybrids to pay around $45.

That revenue will be used to help add and improve EV charging stations around the state.
