JAY, N.Y. (WCAX) – Police say two teens were taken into custody in connection with a shooting incident that triggered a manhunt in Northern New York.
It happened in Jay, New York.
New York State Police say at about 5:20 p.m. Monday, troopers got a report of two suspicious-looking men walking on a road carrying long guns. Then, just before 6:30 p.m., they responded to Sawmill Road in the town of Jay where a vehicle was allegedly shot at.
Police say the suspects fled into the woods nearby. State police drone operators, K-9s and other response teams spent Monday night searching for the suspects.
Tuesday, police said two 17-year-old boys– one from Jay and one from Keeseville– were found and taken into custody in the case. Police say the teens had airsoft guns they used to menace a motorist.
Police say there is no further threat to the public. They say the investigation is ongoing.
