BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Getting your calcium in corrections – a new partnership is bringing fresh Vermont milk to the state’s prisons.
Vermont’s Department of Corrections and the Agency of Agriculture are working together to offer local milk to six correctional facilities.
Milk is already carried in all facilities, but most sites only use powdered milk.
The new partnership will offer inmates the nutritional benefits of fresh local dairy while also supporting Vermont’s dairy industry.
