SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A woman behind bars for attempted murder faces new charges after authorities say she attacked her cellmate.
Vermont State Police say it happened just before 5 a.m. at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington on May 29.
They say Veronica Lewis, 40, used a facility-issued tablet and a lock inside a sock to attack her sleeping cellmate, Yvonne Frederikson, 52.
Police say Frederikson was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
Lewis now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
She’s already serving time for attempted murder after shooting her firearms instructor in 2015.
