Burlington Police arrest 4 in City Hall Park melee

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Four people face charges after Burlington Police say officers were confronted by an “aggressive” crowd while trying to make an arrest in City Hall Park Monday.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. Police say they were attempting to arrest Alex Morits, 20, of Richmond, for an active warrant.

They say after attempting to flee, officers were taking Morits into custody when a crowd surrounded them, with some shouting and even threatening to hit them.

After ignoring commands to back off, police say officers also arrested Jeramie Shadle, 43, of South Burlington; Jenna Munson, 27, of Essex; and Joseph Hackett, 36, of Burlington. They face charges including impeding police, hindering arrest, and assault on a protected professional.

Police say all three have rap sheets.
