BRADFORD, Vt. (WCAX) – A Bradford man is in the hospital tonight after a fiery crash on Route 5.
Vermont State Police say they received reports that a car had crashed into a telephone pole and was on fire near Charles Field Road in Bradford.
Troopers responded, and with the help of the Bradford Fire Department and Upper Valley Ambulance, got the driver, 32-year-old Jackson Metayer, out of the vehicle. He was immediately taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Police say Metayer was traveling north on Route 5 when he suddenly swerved, crossed the center line, and went off the road hitting a fire hydrant and telephone pole.
They also say another driver got out and tried to help Metayer using a fire extinguisher before first responders got there.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
