Two people fall off cliff in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont State Police are launching an investigation after two people fell off of a cliff in St. Johnsbury over the weekend.

It happened just before 11:30 Sunday night near the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail off South Main Street.

The two St. Johnsbury residents fell between 25 and 30 feet near a homeless encampment. According to police, one of them sustained critical injuries, but they are both in stable condition.

What caused them to fall is still under investigation.
