Vermont Network opens national training center for Amplify

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A nationwide initiative to end gender-based violence has a new home in Vermont.

It’s called Amplify and it’s housed within the Vermont Network Against Sexual and Domestic Violence in Waterbury.

The new leadership lab was created with the help of $5 million in federal funding secured by former senator Patrick Leahy.

Amplify will offer courses, training and development opportunities to those working in this field throughout the country.

“Those folks who get the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, knowledge and turn knowledge into action will have impacts on their communities all over the country. So, we’re really seeing a potential for a ripple effect here that is remarkable and we’re so grateful for the opportunity,” said Anne Smith of the Vermont Network.

Training sessions will begin in November both in person and online. The application portal will open later this summer.
