Vt. hospital goes into lockdown after threat of violence

BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – Police arrested a man on Thursday who is suspected of threatening violence against a Vermont hospital.

Berlin police say the Central Vermont Medical Center went into lockdown on Thursday after receiving a threat.

When officers arrived at the hospital, they say found and arrested David Gardener, 54, of Montpelier, as a suspect in the case.

He was cited to appear in court in September on a charge of disturbing the peace by electronic means.

Earlier this week, CVMC added new security procedures to enter the emergency department at the hospital.
