RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Rutland County is gearing up for its second annual pride festival this weekend in the Marble City.
Organizers say they expect a few thousand more people to attend this year after about 4,000 participated last year.
The festival on Center Street and Merchants Row will include vendors, performances, food, games, and other activities.
“People of all walks of life were at pride last year and we’ll probably see that again this year, so it’s great to be in a community and leading a community that’s willing to be so welcoming,” said Rutland Mayor Mike Doenges.
“I think the biggest thing is that we had so many people show up last year for pride. I think we planned this big festival and we thought people would show up but I think we were all just kind of so taken away by all the love and support, and so we’ve decided to expand the festival this year,” said Sam Davis-Boyd with Rutland County Pride.
The festival starts at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with a walk from the Rutland Free Library.
